WHAT CLUBS DO I NEED TO GET STARTED?

A starter set usually includes:

  • Driver
  • One fairway wood or hybrid
  • Irons 5–9
  • Pitching wedge + sand wedge
  • Putter

This is more than enough to learn the game without feeling overwhelmed.

WHAT IS FLEX?

Flex refers to how much the shaft of a golf club bends during your swing.

When you swing, the shaft naturally flexes backward and then forward — this helps store and release energy into the ball.

🎯 Choosing the Right Flex

  • If your shots slice right (for right-handed players), your shaft might be too stiff.
  • If your shots hook left, your shaft might be too flexible.
  • The right flex will help the clubface square up perfectly at impact.

WHAT IS LOFT?

Loft in golf refers to the angle of the clubface (the part that hits the ball) relative to the ground. It’s one of the most important factors that determines how high and far the ball travels.

🎯 Why Loft Matters

  • Distance control: Each club’s loft gives a predictable distance gap.
  • Trajectory control: Higher loft = more control and softer landing.
  • Play style: Slower swing speeds often benefit from higher lofts (helps get the ball airborne).

DO GRIPS MATTER?

1. Grips help you:

  • Control the clubface: A secure, comfortable hold helps you square the club at impact.
  • Maintain feel: The right texture and material let you “feel” the club throughout your swing.
  • Prevent slipping: Especially important in hot or wet conditions.
  • Reduce tension: A comfortable grip allows a relaxed swing for better distance and accuracy.

2. Grip Size — Using the wrong grip size can hurt your game:

  • Too Small: Causes extra hand action → can lead to hooks (ball going left for right-handers).
  • Too Large: Limits wrist movement → can cause slices (ball going right for right-handers).

Standard Grip Sizes

  • Undersize / Ladies – Smaller hands
  • Standard – Average adult hand size
  • Midsize – Slightly larger hands or players who prefer more comfort
  • Oversize / Jumbo – Very large hands or players wanting less hand action

Tip: You can measure your hand or visit our shop to get fitted for the correct grip size.

3. Grip Material & Texture

Different materials change how a club feels:

  • Rubber grips: Most common, good mix of comfort and traction.
  • Corded grips: Firm with extra traction for humid or sweaty hands.
  • Soft grips: Great for beginners; more cushioned and forgiving.

4. When to Replace Your Grips

Even the best grips wear out. Replace them when you notice:

  • Slick or shiny texture
  • Cracks or hard spots
  • Loss of tackiness

ARE YOUR CLUBS THE RIGHT LENGTH?

1. The shaft length influences three major parts of your game:

  • Swing Consistency: If the club is too long, you’ll struggle to control the swing path; too short, and you may bend over too much, losing balance.
  • Distance: Longer shafts can create more clubhead speed (and potentially more distance), but only if you can hit the ball solidly.
  • Accuracy: Shorter shafts are generally easier to control, improving accuracy.

The goal is to find the perfect balance between distance and control.

2. Signs Your Shaft Might Be the Wrong Length

Too Long

  • You miss shots off the toe of the club
  • Your shots often go right (for right-handed golfers)
  • You feel off balance or cramped during setup

Too Short

  • You miss shots off the heel
  • The ball tends to go left
  • You feel hunched over or your swing feels restricted

3. How Shaft Length Is Determined

Shaft length depends on:

  • Your height
  • Arm length
  • Posture and swing style

We use a club fitting chart and launch monitor to measure your ideal length.
